Medical Concierge FAQ — Your Questions Answered
This FAQ answers the questions international patients ask
most about using a Bali medical concierge — what the service is, which
hospitals we cover, what it costs, how insurance and emergencies work,
and how fast we respond. Bali Medical Concierge coordinates
care for foreign visitors and expats across every hospital in Bali; we
don’t diagnose or treat, we guide you to the right care and manage the
logistics. If your question isn’t here, just ask a coordinator directly
on WhatsApp or request a concierge.
For emergencies, don’t wait on this page — call 118/119 or go to the
nearest hospital, and see our emergency help guide.
About the service
What exactly is a Bali medical concierge?
It’s a private coordination service for foreign patients. We
recommend the right hospital for your condition, match you with an
English-speaking doctor, handle insurance and payment, keep your family
updated, and manage emergencies or evacuation — across every Bali
hospital, not a single clinic. We coordinate; we don’t diagnose or
treat.
Do you cover all of Bali or just one area?
All of Bali. We coordinate island-wide — Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud,
Kuta, Nusa Dua, Sanur, Uluwatu, and the hospitals in Denpasar. If you
specifically want a Sanur-only concierge, we can point you to that
specialist provider, but our design is island-wide.
Are you affiliated with a particular hospital?
No. We’re independent, which means our only incentive is to route you
to the hospital that’s genuinely right for your case. Read more on our
About page.
Is your guidance medically reviewed?
Yes. Our recommendations are reviewed for clinical soundness by our
medical advisor, Dr. Kadek Wirawan, MD (Universitas Udayana, 14 years in
Bali international-patient care). We still defer to the treating
physicians for all diagnosis and treatment.
Hospitals and doctors
Which is the best hospital in Bali for foreigners?
There’s no single best hospital. International-patient hospitals like
BIMC, Siloam, Kasih Ibu, and Surya Husadha suit most foreigners, while
the public referral hospital Prof. Ngoerah (Sanglah) has the deepest
resources for complex cases. The right one depends on your condition,
location, and insurance — see our Bali hospital guide for
foreigners.
Can you find me an English-speaking doctor?
Yes, and we match you to the right specialty, not just any
English speaker. Details on our English-speaking doctors in
Bali page.
Are Bali hospitals safe for foreigners?
At the right, accredited hospital, yes. Safety depends on matching
the hospital to your condition, confirming accreditation, communicating
in English, and having an advocate. See our trust and accreditation page.
Cost and insurance
How much does a Bali hospital cost for a foreigner?
It ranges from modest for an outpatient consultation to several
thousand dollars for surgery or ICU, depending on hospital tier,
condition, and length of stay — and many hospitals ask foreigners for an
upfront deposit. We set realistic expectations for your case; full
detail on our Bali hospital
cost page.
Do Bali hospitals accept my travel insurance?
Often, but “accepts insurance” and “bills your insurer directly with
no deposit” aren’t the same thing. We work to arrange cashless treatment
or a guarantee of payment through our insurance liaison.
Why am I being asked for a deposit if I’m insured?
Because your insurer hasn’t yet confirmed payment to the hospital; a
deposit bridges the gap. We work to reduce or remove it once coverage is
confirmed. See our insurance
liaison page.
Emergencies and evacuation
What do I do in a medical emergency in Bali?
Call 118 or 119 for an ambulance,
or go to the nearest hospital immediately — then contact us to
coordinate the ambulance, hospital, translation, insurance, and family
updates. Full steps on our emergency help page.
Can you arrange medical evacuation from Bali?
Yes. When care needs to move beyond Bali, we coordinate clearance,
air ambulance or medical escort, the receiving hospital, and insurance
authorization — end to end. See our medical evacuation page.
My family member is in a Bali hospital and I’m abroad — can you help?
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons families contact us. We
become your trusted, English-speaking eyes on the ground and single
point of contact for updates and decisions.
Getting started
How fast do you respond?
Message us on WhatsApp at
wa.me/6281139414563 and a coordinator replies as quickly as
possible, day or night. For non-urgent planning, the intake form is the best
start.
What does it cost to talk to you?
The initial conversation is free. We quote the coordination service
transparently before you commit to anything.
How do I start?
Tell us what’s happening in a line or two via the concierge intake form or WhatsApp. That’s all it takes to
get a coordinator on your side.
Evacuation, records, and
follow-up
Can you get medical records from a Bali hospital for me?
Yes. We help you obtain the discharge summary, imaging, and treatment
records you’ll need for insurance claims, a transfer, or continued care
at home. Getting these right at discharge saves weeks later.
Can care continue after I leave Bali?
Yes. For patients heading home we can arrange telemedicine follow-up
and make sure your records travel with you, so your own doctor picks up
where the Bali team left off.
What if my case is too complex for Bali?
We’ll tell you honestly and, if evacuation is the safer path,
coordinate clearance, transport, the receiving hospital, and insurance
authorization end to end. See our medical evacuation page.
Trust and independence
Why should I trust an independent concierge over the hospital’s own office?
A hospital’s international office is genuinely helpful, but it
naturally keeps you within that hospital. Because we’re independent and
work across every Bali hospital, our recommendation is based only on
what’s right for your condition — that’s the practical value of
independent advocacy.
Do you make money by sending me to a particular hospital?
No. We aren’t tied to or paid by any hospital to route patients
there. Our service is the coordination itself, quoted transparently to
you, which is exactly what keeps our advice honest.
Still have a question?
If we haven’t answered it, ask us directly — a real, Bali-based
coordinator will respond, with our medical advisor’s oversight behind
every recommendation.
